The Hanoi People's Commission has approved the Hanoi Ministry of Transport's "Urban Bicycle" project in two stages. Therefore, Phase 1 will be implemented directly in 2022 and the project implementation unit will invest 1,000 bicycles, including 500 mechanical bicycles and 500 electric bicycles.
These vehicles will be located at 70-80 locations in Ba Dinh, Tay Ho, Dong Da, Thanh Xuan, and adjacent to the entrance and exit of the Cat Linh - Ha Dong Rail system. The expected implementation time is 2022-2023.
Phase 2 from 2023 to 2024 is to expand the service area, focusing on developing service areas and expanding to central and surrounding areas. The investment range is about 3,000 bicycles in 350 locations, and the implementing department and relevant authorities will collect and select the details of these locations.
According to the calculation of Tri Nam Company (Project Construction Unit), the total cost of the project is about 26 billion dong, and investors own and utilise the capital. The project will be tried within 18 months and the usage fee for the electric bicycle is about 20,000 VND/hour or 200,000 VND/day.
