Hanoi City works towards planting 250.000 new trees in 2022

In addition to the government's goal of planting 1 billion trees from 2021 to 2025, Hanoi is trying to plant trees to improve the environment. In 2022, Hanoi aims to plant 200,000 to 250,000 new shades and timber on urban roads in the city.



According to environmental experts, the tree density in urban areas of Hanoi is still much lower than the current requirements, which is affecting the environment. By 2021, air pollution in Hanoi will reach an astonishing threshold.


In addition to the government's goal of planting 1 billion trees from 2021 to 2025, Hanoi is trying to plant trees to improve the environment. In 2022, Hanoi aims to plant 200,000 to 250,000 new shaded trees and timber on urban roads in the city; 200,000 fruit trees; reforestation of 50-80 hectares of forest; maintain 3,546 hectares of plantations; manage and protect 6,483 hectares of protection and special forests.



Regarding increasing the proportion of green space for the city, the Hanoi Department of Construction is asking relevant units to review, assess the situation and develop an annual plan to plant additional trees in urban areas, industrial parks, out-of-urban transport systems to increase the rate of tree coverage in inner-city districts. Along with the planting of urban green trees, the Hanoi Department of Construction also orients to plant bonsai at traffic routes, both to help reduce dust, noise, and improve urban beauty.
