From 1st January 2023, the environmental protection tax on gasoline is 2,000 VND/litre

On the evening of 30th December, 2022, at the National Assembly House, the National Assembly Standing Committee held a meeting to consider and approve a draft Resolution on environmental protection tax rates for gasoline, oil and grease to be applied in 2023.


According to the draft resolution on environmental protection tax rates for gasoline, oil and grease to be applied in 2023, gasoline (except ethanol) has a tax rate of 2,000 VND/litre, jet fuel has a tax rate of 1,000 VND/litre, diesel oil has a tax rate of 1,000 VND/litre, kerosene has a tax rate of 600 VND/litre, fuel oil has a tax rate of 1,000 VND/litre, lubricants have a tax rate of 1,000 VND/litre, and grease has a tax rate of 1,000 VND/kg.

The National Assembly Standing Committee proposed the Government study, review and perfect the regulations on petrol price management, keep abreast of world price movements, and at the same time have enough solutions to ensure the selling price of petrol and oil rationally to serve production and business, people's life and controlling inflation, at the same time, to review and adjust appropriately taxes, fees, basic price constituents, cost norms, loss norms, and profit norms.


The government also intends to Improve the national reserve capacity, rationally using the Petroleum Price Stabilisation Fund to stabilise the market. The solutions must ensure resources to continue implementing goals related to the environment and sustainable development.
